DAILY READINGS

16 December – 21 December 2013

M Matt 16.13-end: Peter’s mind is on human things not divine (23); what human things distract you & displace Jesus at Christmas?

T Matt 17.1-13: Listen to him; read Peter’s account of this in 2 Peter ch 1; what qualities does he list which will enable us to listen (v.5-7)?

W Matt 17.14-21: repeat this prayer: O gracious light, pure brightness of the ever living Father in heaven, Jesus Christ, holy & blessed.

T Matt 17.22-end: Jesus (miraculously!) agrees to pay the Temple tax; pray for tax justice in UK & a (miraculous?) end to tax avoidance.

F Matt 18.1-20: become humble like a child (4); take some time to reflect on what sort of God we have who comes to us as a baby.

S Matt 18.21-end: a story about debt; reflect on why this is a particular issue at Christmas & pray for those who will struggle with it.
