We baptise (christen) children as part of our morning worship. This is usually the 11am service on the 2nd Sunday of the month (but will vary from time to time). Normally, we baptise two children on any one occasion with the service lasting about an hour.
We encourage everyone who wants to arrange a baptism to worship with us; before the baptism, we want to get to know you at St Barnabas’; and afterwards, we want to help you fulfill the promises you will make as part of the baptism service and develop an active faith as part of our community.
Please come and join us on a Sunday (services listed on the left) and speak with Richard (the vicar) about baptism after the service.
Preparation for infant baptism involves a home visit (normally in an evening after work) and a session at church with other parents having children baptised. It also requires attendance at services a minimum of once a month for 3 months prior to the baptism.
Adults who are thinking about their own baptism should come along on a Sunday and see Richard (the vicar) after the service. Preparation for baptism can then be arranged to suit.
We encourage any adults who would like to be confirmed to join us on an Alpha course. Each session starts with a meal followed by a talk and then a discussion. We run the Alpha course once a year.
