MARRIAGE AT ST BARNABAS
Banns of Marriage
If you live in the parish, St Barnabas’ Clapham Common, and are getting married elsewhere you may need us to call your banns. Please call the church office, 020 7223 6750, or email our Church Manager, Sandrine Simmons, with your enquiry: email@example.com.
Banns are called on the basis of residency. To check which parish you live in, click here and enter your postcode in the box titled Find Your Local Church and make contact with the church office or vicar there.
Getting Married at St Barnabas’
You can legally be married at St Barnabas’ if you live in the parish.
If you do not live in the parish but wish to marry at St Barnabas’, the Marriage Measure states that you will need to show one of the following connections:
That one of you:
1. has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
2. was baptised in the parish concerned or
3. was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
4. has at any time regularly gone to normal church services
in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
Or that one of your parents, at any time after you were born:
5. has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months
6. has regularly gone to normal church services
in the parish church for at least 6 months
Or that one of your parents or grandparents:
7. was married in the parish
Marriage Preparation: Marriage Prep in a Day
Everyone who marries in St Barnabas’ is required to do some preparation first. This is also available to those who will marry elsewhere but who live in the area and would find it more convenient to do it locally.

Marriage after Divorce
Marriage after a divorce is a possibility at St Barnabas’; please speak to the vicar to find out more.
We can supply marriage certificates for weddings that took place at St Barnabas’ between November 1975 and the present day. If the marriage took place before November 1975, contact Wandsworth Register Office.
